Wendy Narby

I arrived in Paris at the age of 20 with a degree in Agricultural Economics in my pocket and a place to study  a Masters in Food and Wine marketing. I hardly spoke a word of French.

A year later I was fluent in French and worked for a food company, which  involved running around Paris at the crack of dawn stocking supermarket shelves.

My eight years in Paris evolved into running an import office and finally the British Meat European offices. I loved every minute of it. I was two stone heavier. I ate and drank everything they put in front of me.

Wine was always on the scene. My Masters thesis was about wine marketing and upon graduation, the vineyard asked me to represent their wines on a promotional trip to US. It was a steep learning curve, and another vineyard owner graciously helped me. Eight years later I married him and moved to Bordeaux, more precisely Sauternes.

I carried on commuting to Paris for a while, consulting for previous clients, but started learning and writing about wine and finally sharing my growing passion through teaching. Now, I write about wine, teach wine classes  and talk at wine events for professionals and enthusiastic amateurs around the world.
