Dining at the Opera
Colum Crichton Stuart, restaurant ace of Bordeaux has struck again! After the success of several restaurants in Bordeaux including the Café Maritime, Dame de Shanghai, l’Orangerie in the Jardin Pubilc, Café japonais – and I could go on ……………. He has succeeded in creating a restaurant worthy of this fabulous venue.
The Café Opera is in the ‘Grand Théatre’ on the place de la Comedie in the centre of town on one of the points of the ‘Golden Triangle’. This place has been transformed with the arrival of the tramway and more importantly the renovation of the Grand hotel Regent opposite.
The early 19th century Opera house was renovated in the 1990’s including the palatial decor of the restaurant and the terrace under the arcades. Café Opera Serves an original take on the local cuisine light with just an exotic touch which we have come to expect from the subtle Asian influence from Colum’s team from Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner and when the ‘Grand Théatre’ is open for performances.
