E Provenance in Bordeaux
Bordeaux, as all fine wines, are sensitive to transport conditions especially temperature change in particular given the climate conditions in the growing markets of the Far East.
Château sales are usually ex cellars so shipping is the responsibility of the customers.
Consequently quality variation from bottle to bottle is not unusual in export markets, as I saw for myself organising tastings on recent trips to both the States and Asia.
With e provenance the technology is now available to ensure that temperature traceability is accurate, so when shippers say they are using refrigerated containers the customer can check that it has not been standing on a quayside in the sun with the motor turned off!
Bordeaux Wine Merchant Bordeaux Provenance is now making this technology available to their on-line customers. By using e Provenance RFID (radio frequency identification) temperature monitoring technology for all their shipments Bordeaux Provenance is able to monitor transport conditions and provide a certificate proving that their wines have not been exposed to the damaging fluctuations.
As Bordeaux Provenance sells their wines with “ex chateau” provenance exclusively in original wooden cases that have remained in professional storage in Bordeaux since bottling with 24/7 monitoring, adding on quality control at transport is the final step in the logistics chain.
So if the wine is no good you can no longer blame it on the transport !
